Citrus College Men's Water Polo went 2–2 at last weekend's Cuesta College Men's Water Polo Tournament, held Friday and Saturday, October 17–18.
With the results, the Owls move to 6–16 overall on the season while remaining 1–3 in conference play.
Citrus opened the tournament on Friday morning against host Cuesta College, falling 20–8. Trace Faskell and Morrison Villa each netted three goals, while Liam Ross added two.
In their second game of the day, the Owls suffered a 21–13 loss to Cabrillo — a rematch of their narrow defeat at the Merced North vs. South Tournament in August. Faskell led Citrus with a game-high seven goals, matching his season best, while Ross recorded three goals and seven assists. Noah Guzman contributed two goals, three assists, and a steal, and Faskell added a game-high five steals on defense.
Citrus bounced back on Saturday with a 16–10 win over Las Positas. The Owls jumped out to a 6–1 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Faskell had a career day, scoring a personal-best 10 goals while adding six steals and an assist. Villa added three goals, and Ross tallied five assists. In goal, Jason Nonis recorded 12 saves on 22 shots and dished out three assists.
In their final game of the weekend, Citrus defeated Rio Hondo 19–13. After trailing 7–5 after the opening quarter, the Owls surged ahead with a dominant 7–0 second quarter to take a 12–7 halftime lead. Ross led the offense with eight goals and seven assists, while Faskell added five goals, five assists, and six steals. Villa chipped in three goals and three steals, and Nonis made eight saves and added five assists from the cage.
The Owls now turn their attention to the Western State Conference Championship Tournament, set for November 6–8 at Ventura College.
