Owls Cap Dominant Season with Win, Head to 3C2A Regionals
After clinching their fourth consecutive Western State Conference-South title, Citrus College Men's Basketball completed their second straight undefeated conference season by defeating Glendale College 96–83 on the road in their final regular-season game on Saturday, February 20. Citrus finishes the regular season with a 27–1 record and a perfect 14–0 mark in conference play, marking their best regular season finish since the 2008 State Championship team that went 35–1.
The Owls led 47–38 at halftime and outscored Glendale 49–45 in the second half to secure the victory. Citrus shot 46.2% from the field (30-of-65), including 37.9% from three-point range (11-of-29), and converted 73.5% of free throws (25-of-34). The team grabbed 35 rebounds, recorded 19 assists, and limited turnovers to 11 compared with Glendale's 19.
Dev Hamilton and Rockwell Reynolds led the Owls with 20 points each, with Hamilton adding five rebounds and three assists, and Reynolds chipping in eight rebounds. JJ Sanchez contributed 12 points and four rebounds, while Leo Ricketts added 11 points and a team-high six assists. Bench players also made key contributions, including Grayson Boustead with eight points and six rebounds, and Alek Sanchez with eight points and two rebounds.
The Owls now turn their attention to the postseason, returning to the 3C2A Southern California Regionals as the No. 2 seed. Citrus will await the winner of Wednesday, February 25's matchup between No. 15 Allan Hancock College and No. 17 Cypress College. The Owls will host the winner on Saturday, February 28 at 5 p.m., with tickets available below.
