No. 4 Citrus Closes Out 2025 With 109-76 Win Over Riverside City College
No. 4 state-ranked Citrus College Men's basketball earned its 12th win of the season on Friday night, December 19, rolling past Riverside City College, 109–76, at home.
With the victory, the Owls improve to 12–1 overall, while the Tigers go to 8–6 on the season.
The opening eight minutes of the first half were competitive, featuring six lead changes and five ties. Citrus began to separate midway through the half, igniting an 8–0 run to take a 25–17 advantage. From there, the Owls steadily built their lead and went into halftime ahead 53–37. Citrus forced eight RCC turnovers in the first half and were highly efficient offensively, shooting 19-of-29 from the field and 6-of-11 from three-point range. JJ Sanchez led the Owls with 14 first-half points, followed by Dev Hamilton with 12 and Rockwell Reynolds with eight.
Citrus stepped on the gas in the second half, quickly extending its lead and never allowing Riverside City any momentum. The Owls continued to clamp down defensively, forcing seven more Tiger turnovers while holding RCC to just 13-of-30 shooting from the field and 3-of-11 from beyond the arc. Leo Ricketts took over offensively in the second half, scoring 17 points on 4-of-7 shooting and knocking down 3-of-5 from three. Hamilton continued his strong night, matching his first-half output with another 12 points after the break.
For the game, Citrus shot 37-of-63 from the field (58.7%) and 12-of-23 from three-point range (52.2%), while going 23-of-32 at the free-throw line. The Owls controlled the glass with a 38–30 rebounding advantage, outscored RCC 46–26 in the paint, and received a strong contribution from the bench, outscoring the Tigers 43–30. Citrus led by as many as 35 points in the closing minute.
Individually, Dev Hamilton led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting while adding eight rebounds. Leo Ricketts finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, four three-pointers, and two assists, including 17 points after halftime. Rockwell Reynolds added 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, and JJ Sanchez filled the stat sheet with 17 points, eight assists, and four steals while shooting 6-of-8 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Amiri Meadows contributed six points and five assists, while Grayson Boustead chipped in seven points off the bench. Citrus received balanced production throughout the lineup, with 11 different Owls scoring in the win.
The Owls will take a two-week break for Winter Break before returning to action on the road at College of the Sequoias on January 2, 2026, with tipoff set for 5 p.m.
