Citrus Improves to 4–0 After 94–71 Victory Against Allan Hancock

Citrus College Men's Basketball rolled to its fourth straight win on Friday afternoon, defeating Allan Hancock College 94–71.

With the victory, the Owls improve to 4–0 to start the season, while the Bulldogs drop to 2–2.

Citrus came out firing, racing to an early 11–2 lead and extending the margin to 17–7 by the 13-minute mark of the first half. Allan Hancock responded with a push of its own, taking its first lead of the game at 27–26 with six minutes remaining. The Owls quickly countered, closing the half on an 8–0 run behind three-pointers from Mikal Sims and Leo Ricketts to take a 42–33 advantage into the break. Citrus shot 13-of-32 from the field, 5-of-10 from three, and 11-of-15 from the line in the opening half while forcing 13 Bulldog turnovers.

Allan Hancock kept things close early in the second half, but Citrus began to separate around the midway point. Behind the offensive spark of JJ Sanchez, Rockwell Reynolds, and Ricketts, the Owls stretched the lead to 20 with just under eight minutes remaining and later pushed the margin to 27. Citrus' defense stayed locked in, forcing 10 more turnovers and outscoring the Bulldogs 52–38 in the second half. The Owls were red-hot offensively, shooting 58.1% from the field, drilling 7-of-9 from deep, and going 9-of-10 at the free-throw line over the final 20 minutes.

For the game, Citrus knocked down 12-of-19 three-pointers (63.2%), hit 20-of-25 free throws (80%), and shot 31-of-63 overall (49.2%). The Owls forced 24 turnovers—converting them into 28 points—added eight fast-break points, and outscored Allan Hancock's bench 29–20.

Freshman JJ Sanchez led the way with 22 points (5-of-7 FG, 2-of-3 3FG, 10-of-11 FT), along with three steals and three assists. Leo Ricketts added 16 points—including 10 in the second half—while handing out a game-high eight assists. Rockwell Reynolds posted 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds, plus one steal and one block. Dylan Victorio and Alek Sanchez chipped in eight points each, while defensive standout Amiri Meadows recorded a game-high five steals to go with four points, four assists, and three rebounds.

Citrus looks to keep its momentum rolling when the Owls host MiraCosta on Tuesday, November 18 at 4 p.m.
