Owls Finish Strong and Earn First Postseason Berth Since 2013
Women's Volleyball closed out its 2025 season on Friday night, November 14, falling to state No. 12–ranked Los Angeles Mission College in three sets, 3–0 (25–19, 25–23, 25–21), in the Western State Conference Crossover at home.
Despite the sweep, the Owls battled one of California's top programs point-for-point, keeping every set within reach and showcasing the competitive edge that defined their year.
Citrus finishes the season 15–12 overall and 7–5 in the WSC, marking their winningest season since 2017.
Freshman standout Sophia Martinez led the way with 13 kills, 14 digs and two assists, bringing her season total to 357 kills—most in the Western State Conference-South.
Emma Cristales followed with 11 kills, seven digs and an ace, finishing the season third in the conference with 267 kills.
Aaliyah Janae Freeman added six kills and an ace, while Naomi Dominguez contributed three kills, a dig and a block assist.
Defensively, Sammi Rivard delivered a team-high 15 digs, closing the year with 293 digs, good for fourth in the conference.
Setting duties were split by Lily Whitney (15 assists) and Justine Gonzales (14 assists), with Gonzales' 7.29 assists per set ranking second in the WSC and Whitney's 7.14 ranking third.
Citrus heads to the 3C2A Women's Volleyball Southern California Regionals as the No. 20 seed and will take on No. 13 Golden West College this Saturday, November 22, with match time still to be announced. Saturday's Round One matchup marks Citrus' first postseason appearance since 2013.
