Balanced Attack Leads Owls to 3-0 Sweep Over West LA
Citrus College Women's Volleyball earned a convincing 3-0 sweep (25-9, 25-14, 25-13) over West Los Angeles College on Wednesday night at home, completing the season series sweep of the Wildcats.
With the victory, Citrus improves to 14-10 overall and 6-4 in conference play, while West LA drops to 3-17 overall and 1-9 in conference.
The Owls controlled the match from start to finish—efficient offensively, sharp defensively, and never allowing West LA to generate momentum. Citrus showcased balanced production across the roster, led by Emma Cristales who posted six kills, two digs and an ace. Aaliyah Janae Freeman added five kills, while Emily Desmartes, Sophia Martinez and Kaiah Wilson each chipped in four kills. At the net, Shaylen McFoy contributed three kills, two block assists, one solo block and a dig.
Setting was strong for the Owls as Justine Gonzales dished out a match-high 17 assists with five digs, and Lily Whitney added eight assists, one kill and a dig.
Citrus now turns around and hits the road tomorrow, Friday, November 7, traveling to Bakersfield College for the second conference meeting between the teams at 6 p.m. The Owls look to even the series after falling 3-2 in the first matchup at home.
