Volleyball Falls in Four to Cuesta

Citrus College Volleyball saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Wednesday night, September 17, as the Owls fell to Cuesta in four sets (25-19, 14-25, 21-25, 22-25). With the loss, Citrus moves to 7-5 overall, while Cuesta improves to 6-5.

The Owls opened strong, taking the first set 25-19, but the Cougars bounced back with a dominant 25-14 win in the second. Sets three and four were tightly contested, with Citrus narrowly falling by four and three points, respectively, as Cuesta closed out the match.

Sophia Martinez led the way for the Owls with 16 kills, 23 digs, and an assist. Aaliyah Janae Freeman added seven kills, five block assists, three digs, and an ace. Emma Cristales posted seven kills, eight digs, one ace, and a block assist, while setter Lily Whitney paced the offense with a team-high 32 assists to go along with 17 digs, a kill, and an ace. Defensively, Sammi Rivard chipped in 15 digs and an ace.

The Owls return to action Friday, September 19, for their home opener against Ventura College at 6 p.m.
