Owls Win Fourth Straight, Top Rio Hondo in Four Sets

Citrus College Volleyball extended its winning streak to four games on Friday night, September 12, with a four-set road victory over Rio Hondo College (25-14, 25-21, 25-27, 25-19).

The Owls improve to 7-4 overall, while the Roadrunners drop to 2-6.

Citrus jumped out to an early lead, taking the first two sets 25-14 and 25-21. Rio Hondo battled back in a tight third set, edging the Owls 27-25 to force a fourth. Citrus responded with a strong finish, closing out the match 25-19.

Sophia Martinez turned in a standout performance, recording a match-high 15 kills along with 28 digs and an ace. Emma Cristales added 10 kills and eight digs, while Aaliyah Janae Freeman chipped in nine kills and two solo blocks.

Setter Lily Whitney controlled the offense with 39 assists and also contributed 10 digs and a kill.

The Owls will look to keep their momentum rolling when they travel to Cuesta College on Wednesday, September 17 at 6 p.m., before returning home to host Ventura College in their home opener on Friday, September 19 at 6 p.m.
