Roth to Helm Women’s Swim Program
Glendora, CA -- Former Owl Adam Roth has been tabbed to helm the Citrus College Women's Swim program for the 2016 season. Roth served as an assistant coach for the Women's Water Polo team this past fall, helping lead the Owls, along with Head Coach Meaghan Pachsall, to their most wins in program history.
"As an alumnus of Citrus College, this opportunity allows me to give back to the academic and athletic community that supported me as a young adult. I have incredibly fond memories of the professors and teams I was able to connect with while I was a student-athlete here," Roth said. "As a lifelong member of the competitive aquatics community, this position will allow me to use my strengths as a teacher and an aquatics coach to support and inspire another generation of student-athletes."
Along with joining the Women's Water Polo staff here at Citrus this past Fall, Roth has an extensive coaching resume on the club scene. Roth has been a member of the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center since 2007. Roth was brought on at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center to help build and develop their women's program. In 2013 he took over as the Program Director. Roth has also served as the Head Coach of the United States Development National Team for USA Water Polo since 2010. While working with both organizations, Roth has led numerous teams to national prominence and developed several young student-athletes for national competition and collegiate opportunities.
"I'm particularly excited to be able to positively impact the lives of our student-athletes as they work through Citrus College on the way to their degree and career paths," Roth said. "I look forward to helping them set and work toward their personal goals. I also look forward to mentoring and supporting them across the challenges they will face while working toward those goals both in and out of the pool."
Roth began his water polo playing days at Temple City High School where he graduated before coming right here to Citrus College, playing for legendary coach Bill Ralls. Roth was also a competitive swimmer for the majority of his youth beginning at the age of four with the Arcadia Swim Club up through his high school years where he swam for Temple City High School, the Industry Hill Aquatic Club, and the Rose Bowl Swim team.
Roth went on to earn his Associates Degree from Citrus College, and then on to the University of California, Santa Barbara campus where he earned his B.A. in Film Studies. After completing his undergrad, Roth went on to earn two Masters Degrees, one an M.F.A. in Television Production from Loyola Marymount University, and the other an M.S. in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.
"I am looking forward to using this upcoming season to build on last year's 5th place conference finish. In order to accomplish that, my short term goals are to build a challenging and motivating environment within our program that inspires our teammates to excel on and off deck, guide each of our student-athletes to improve throughout conference, and have each earn personal records at conference championships," Roth said.
