Women’s Soccer Turns to Conference Play After Road Losses

Citrus College Women's Soccer sits at 2-4 in Western State Conference play after dropping back-to-back road matches to San Bernardino Valley and Pasadena City, both by 2-0 finals.

On Friday against San Bernardino Valley, the Owls matched the Wolverines with five first-half shots but couldn't convert. SBVC broke through in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime, then added an insurance goal in the 78th. Citrus managed three second-half shots to the Wolverines' 11. Bridget Ward registered two shots on goal, while Layla Serrato added one. In net, Liliana Miramontes was strong, recording nine saves on 11 shots faced.

The Owls then traveled to Pasadena City College on Tuesday, September 23, where the Lancers struck in the 27th minute to carry a 1-0 lead into halftime. Citrus responded with nine second-half shots compared to just two for Pasadena, but the Lancers capitalized on a 56th-minute chance to seal the 2-0 win. Ward paced the Owls with four shots, including two on target. Serrato and Alexia Leon each added two shots, with one on goal apiece. Miramontes finished with eight saves on 10 shots faced.

Citrus now turns its attention to conference play, opening at home against LA Valley College this Friday, September 26, at 4 p.m.
