Ave Surpasses 500 Career Points as Owls Roll Past Santa Monica, 76–42

Citrus College Women's Basketball picked up a 76–42 win over Santa Monica College on Wednesday, February 11. The victory moves the Owls to 10–15 overall and 7–4 in conference play.

Citrus was in command the entire game, leading from start to finish and outscoring the Corsairs in every quarter (13–6, 23–14, 20–10, 20–12). The Owls built a game-high 37-point advantage midway through the fourth quarter. Citrus shot 37.7% from the field and knocked down 13 three-pointers — their second-most in a game this season, behind the 15 they hit in their previous home game against Canyons — while holding Santa Monica to just 27.9% shooting overall. Despite being outrebounded 47–43, Citrus controlled the game with ball movement and defense, dishing out 24 assists and forcing 25 turnovers that turned into a 23–11 advantage in points off turnovers. Citrus also pushed the tempo for a 19–2 edge in fastbreak points and outscored Santa Monica 22–18 in the paint. Santa Monica shot a higher percentage from three (45.5%) but attempted only 11 shots from deep and struggled at the free-throw line, going 3-for-12 (25.0%).

Jhavmine Ave led the way with a game-high 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting, adding six rebounds, four steals and three assists in a dominant all-around performance while surpassing 500 career points at Citrus in just 23 games played. Lexie Navarro followed with 21 points, knocking down six three-pointers (tying her season-high) while contributing four assists and a block, and Brianna Gomez chipped in 16 points with four triples and three assists.

Maileeh Suasti anchored the interior with 11 points, a career-high 20 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and two blocks, while Raynise Beserra facilitated the offense with five assists and grabbed six rebounds. Samantha Martinez added four rebounds and two steals and Setsianna Kraynak provided energy off the bench with five rebounds, two steals and a block.

Citrus will travel to Bakersfield College on Saturday, February 14, for a conference rematch with the Renegades, who defeated the Owls 75–66 at Citrus on January 21. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
