Women's Basketball Earns Big Road Win Over Fullerton, 66–65

Women's Basketball picked up a signature road victory on Saturday evening, defeating Fullerton College 66–65 on the Hornets' home floor.

With the win, the Owls improve to 2–4 overall, while Fullerton moves to 4–4.

Citrus set the tone early, jumping out to a 20–16 lead after the first quarter behind 11 points from Jhavmine Ave, six from Maileeh Suasti, and a three-pointer from Brianna Gomez. The momentum carried into the second quarter, where the Owls posted 19 points and held Fullerton to just 13—their best defensive period of the night. Citrus forced five turnovers and didn't allow a single Hornet three-pointer, taking a 39–29 advantage into halftime.

Fullerton responded in the third, outscoring the Owls 21–12 behind efficient shooting (9-of-17 from the field and 2-of-4 from deep). Citrus struggled to match the pace, hitting just 4-of-15 in the frame, and saw its lead trimmed to 51–50 entering a tense fourth quarter.

The final period delivered a back-and-forth battle with three lead changes and two ties. A pivotal 9–0 Citrus run midway through the quarter swung the momentum, fueled by clutch scoring from Suasti, who put up nine points in the fourth alone. Fullerton mounted one final push, but Ave drilled two critical free throws with under 20 seconds left to extend the lead to 66–62. The Owls then defended the Hornets' late three-point attempts well enough to secure the one-point victory.

Suasti turned in a career performance with 26 points, six rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Ave added 18 points, a team-high seven rebounds, four assists, and a game-high four steals. Gomez delivered 15 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Owls return home after a four-game road stretch and will host Pasadena City College on Wednesday, November 26 at 3 p.m.
