Citrus Softball Caps Stellar Season with Conference and All-State Awards

After a strong campaign, the Citrus College Softball team wrapped up the 2024 season with a 24-18 overall record—marking their second-highest win total in the past eight years—and captured the Western State Conference-South (WSC-South) Championship with a 10-2 record. The Owls were well-represented in both the Western State Conference Awards and the 3CFCA End of Year honors, capping a historic season with individual and team accolades. 

Head Coach Jessica Brown, in her third season at the helm, was named WSC-South Coach of the Year, guiding the Owls to their first conference title in over a decade. Under Brown's leadership, the team batted .298, scored 243 runs (15th in the state), drew 148 walks (3rd in the state), and stole 111 bases (5th in the state). 

All-Conference and All-State Honorees 

  • Caitlin Kelley (Sophomore, Claremont HS) was named WSC-South Pitcher of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference and 3CFCA All-State honors. Kelley pitched 192+ innings, tallied 18 complete games and 18 wins (10th in state), recorded 92 strikeouts (4th in conference), and finished with a 3.60 ERA (3rd in conference). She also contributed offensively with 14 hits, one home run, and seven RBIs. 

  • Madelyn Hajj (Sophomore, Upland HS) earned WSC-South Most Valuable Player, First Team All-Conference, and 3CFCA All-State honors. Hajj led the entire state with 14 home runs and 56 RBIs, batting .368 and recording 26 extra-base hits (3rd in state). She set new Citrus program records for career home runs (20) and RBIs (88). Defensively, she led the conference with 304 putouts, ranking second in the state. 

  • Jaelynn Eaves (Freshman, Murrieta Mesa HS) made an immediate impact, earning First Team All-Conference and 3CFCA All-Region (Southern) honors. Eaves batted .364 with 44 hits, 42 RBIs, and seven home runs, while adding 80 defensive assists and a 97.5% fielding percentage. 

All-Conference First Team Selections 

  • Rylee Praytor (Sophomore, Upland HS) hit .393 (10th in conference) with 48 hits, 25 RBIs, and six stolen bases. As the team's catcher, she recorded 126 putouts, 23 assists, and caught 11 runners stealing (2nd in conference), earning First Team All-Conference honors. 

  • Alivia Martinez (Freshman, Don Antonio Lugo HS) batted .355 with 44 hits, 41 runs, and a state-leading 46 stolen bases, setting a new program record. She also held a 96.8% fielding percentage in the outfield. 

  • Sofia Femath (Sophomore, Ontario HS) contributed both at the plate and in the field, batting .328 and leading the conference with 114 assists as a shortstop. She turned six double plays and posted a 94.6% fielding percentage. 

All-Conference Second Team Selections 

  • Ava Camarena (Sophomore, Lakeside HS) led the conference with 36 stolen bases (2nd only to teammate Martinez), scored 32 runs, and played solid defense with 73 putouts and 10 assists. 

  • Aalijah Aranda (Freshman, Los Altos HS) maintained a 98.6% fielding percentage while contributing 10 hits, nine runs, and two RBIs. 

  • Camila Abundis (Freshman, El Monte HS) pitched in 22 games with five wins and a 3.88 ERA (5th best in conference). She also added seven hits and four walks offensively. 

All-Conference Honorable Mentions 

  • Adriana "Adri" Bonilla (Sophomore, Chaffey HS) posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage from the outfield with 22 putouts and two assists. 

  • Bailey Aguilar (Sophomore, Downey HS) hit .292 with 14 hits and 11 RBIs. Defensively, she contributed 10 putouts and two assists.
