After a tough one-run loss at Bakersfield College yesterday, Citrus College Softball bounced back in a big way, topping Compton College 10-4 in a non-conference matchup on Friday afternoon.

The win moves the Owls to 20-14 overall, while they remain 8-2 in conference play. Compton drops to 10-21-2 overall and 7-12 in conference action.

Citrus wasted no time getting on the board, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Sofia Femath scored on a wild pitch, followed by a two-run single from Madelyn Hajj that brought home Jaelynn Eaves and Alivia Martinez.

The Owls kept rolling in the second inning. With the bases loaded, Hajj came through again, ripping a three-RBI double to clear the bases and stretch the lead to 6-0.

Compton answered with four runs in the top of the sixth to close the gap to 6-4, but Eaves put the game out of reach with a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth, scoring Ramos, Femath, and Martinez to seal the 10-4 final.

Eaves led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with a home run (her 7th of the season, 4th-most in the state), four RBIs, three runs scored, a stolen base, and a walk.

Hajj continued her dominant season at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBIs. She now leads the state in both home runs (11) and RBIs (48).

Femath added a 2-for-4 effort with two runs and standout defense at shortstop. Martinez reached base three times on walks, scored three runs, and swiped three more bags, bringing her season total to 36—second-most in the state.

Camila Abundis (W, 5-3) earned the win, tossing 5.2 innings with two strikeouts and four earned runs. Caitlin Kelley (Sv, 1) closed the door with 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit to notch her first save of the season.

The Owls return to conference play next Tuesday, April 15, when they host LA Mission College at 2:30 p.m.
