Citrus College Men's Water Polo went 0-4 over the weekend at the Riverside City College Tournament, held Friday and Saturday, October 10–11, at the Citrus College Aquatics Center. The event was relocated from Riverside City College due to ongoing maintenance at RCC's Aquatics Complex.
With the results, the Owls move to 3-14 overall and 0-2 in conference play after falling to Grossmont (20-7), Long Beach City (26-9), Saddleback (19-7), and Riverside City (16-8).
In Friday's tournament opener against Grossmont, the Owls kept things close early, trailing just 3-2 after the first quarter. However, the Griffins pulled away in the later periods to secure the win. Ethan Gregory led Citrus with three goals and two steals, while Trace Faskell added two goals, one assist, two steals, and a drawn exclusion. Liam Ross and Mario Garcia each scored once, with Ross also contributing four assists and two steals. In goal, Jason Nonis tallied 10 saves and three steals.
Later that day, the Owls faced Long Beach City and fell 26-9. Faskell powered the offense with six goals, while Morrison Villa added three. Ross recorded six assists and drew two exclusions, while Gregory added a steal and an assist.
On Saturday morning, Citrus took on Saddleback in their third game of the weekend, falling 19-7. Ross scored five goals to tie for the game-high, while Guzman and Faskell each added one. Guzman also tallied three assists, and Faskell matched the game-high with four steals. Nonis finished with 10 saves, one assist, and a steal in goal.
The Owls wrapped up the weekend with their final home game of the regular season — which also served as Sophomore Day — against Riverside City. Despite a strong effort, Citrus fell 16-8. Sophomore attacker Trace Faskell led with five goals on 11 shots and added three steals, while fellow sophomore Liam Ross scored three goals with three assists, two steals, and a game-high eight exclusions drawn. Nonis recorded 14 saves, an assist, and a steal in goal.
Citrus now hits the road for a conference matchup at Santa Monica College on Wednesday, October 15, before competing in the Cuesta College Tournament in San Luis Obispo. The Owls will face Cuesta (9:10 a.m.) and Cabrillo (12:40 p.m.) on Friday, October 17, followed by Las Positas (9:50 a.m.) and Rio Hondo (1:20 p.m.) on Saturday, October 18.
