Citrus College Men's Soccer dropped a 3-1 decision at home Friday against Los Angeles City College.
The loss moves the Owls to 0-4-1 on the season, while LA City improves to 2-1 overall.
The Cubs struck first in the 20th minute and doubled their lead just 10 minutes later. Citrus responded before halftime when Richard Chanelo connected on a perfectly timed header off a cross from Kevin Cardenas in the 38th minute, cutting the deficit to 2-1 and notching his first goal of the season.
Despite battling defensively in the second half, the Owls were unable to generate a shot on goal. LA City put the match out of reach in the 76th minute with their third goal.
The Cubs outshot the Owls 23-5, including 11 shots on target. Citrus goalkeeper Hector Arteaga kept the Owls close with eight saves.
Citrus will look to regroup after a week off before traveling to Compton College on Friday, September 12, for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
