Owls Fall Short in Physical Battle with Southwestern, 3–1

Citrus College Men's Soccer dropped a 3–1 decision to Southwestern College this afternoon, moving to 0-3-1 on the season while the Jaguars improved to 2-1.

In a physical match that featured 26 combined fouls, the Owls managed just one goal on five shots, while Southwestern converted three times on 14 attempts.

Citrus nearly leveled the score in the 55th minute when Ashton Sandgadeo's strike was cleared off the line by a Jaguars defender with the score still 1-0. Southwestern responded with two insurance goals in the 65th and 84th minutes to extend their lead.

Sandgadeo eventually found the net in stoppage time, tallying his third goal of the season off a beautiful assist from Richard Chanelo, but the comeback effort fell short.

Goalkeeper AJ Baragan kept the Owls in the match with five saves on eight shots on target.

Citrus remain home Friday afternoon to host Los Angeles City College at 1 p.m.
