San Diego, CA - The Citrus College Men's Basketball team picked up their first victory of the 2015-2016 season on Friday afternoon in the opening round of the 2015 Knight's Invitational hosted by San Diego City College. The Owls let it rain from three, hitting 60.9% from downtown and 52.3% from the field in a 95-65 win over Southwestern College.

The Owls opened up hot and never really looked back. Sophomore Jordan McNellys scored the game's opening points via a triple, and Citrus started the game on a 7-0 run. Even after Southwestern jumper broke up the opening run, the Owls went on to score the next 12 points, punctuated by a three-pointer from freshman Kenneth Cyprian that made it 19-2.

After that Citrus never led by less than double digits. The Owls would lead by 14 at the break 49-35, and led by as much as 36 points towards the end of the second half. Four Owls finished the day with double digit scoring games, led by Cyprians team high 15. McNellys added 12, while sophomore Caleb Richey had 11, and freshman Teeqwaun James had 10 off the bench. Sophomore Mark Williams reeled in a 12 boards, and Richey added six assists to his stat line.

With the win, Citrus improves to 1-1 on the season. The Owls will be back in action tomorrow in San Diego when they take on the winner of the Mt. San Jacinto College versus Reedley College game at 7:00 PM.
