Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Football program is pleased to announce the signing of sophomore offensive lineman Blake Luevano with Tennessee Tech University. Luevano is the fourth player from the 2013-2014 sophomore class to sign a football scholarship.

"Tenessee Tech was a place that I knew I could go and grow both as a man and as a football player," Luevano said. "It was a chance for me to experience something outside of my comfort zone, while getting a great opportunity to continue my education. It's allowing me the chance to become a better player, but also to get better in the classroom and leave in a position to be successful when I graduate."

Luevano spent three years in the Citrus College football program. Grey-shirting in 2011, and spending a year in the weight room and in the classroom adjusting to the college level. As a freshman in 2012, Luevano immediately began to leave his mark on the program.

"I am thankful I landed at Citrus because without that program and the support around it none of this would have been possible. Citrus allowed me to hone in on my skills both academically and physically," Luevano said. "Without Citrus I don't think I'd be where I am today at Tennessee Tech University, making it to the Division I level. At Citrus I was able to grow as an individual and become a confident and physical football player, as well as become an athlete with high academic standing."

In 2013, Luevano continued to grow and improve; starting all 11 games for the Owls in one of its most successful seasons in program history. Luevano was a 2nd team All-National Division Central Conference selection in arguably the most talented conference in the State. In addition, Luevano was named to the All-Southern California Football Association All-Academic team and was named a Citrus College Scholar Baller for the second year running.

"Blake is a special individual, who took the time to really understand and grasp what Citrus College Football is all about," said Citrus College Head Football Coach Ron Ponciano. "He made the most of his time and chances in the program, and became better in every facet of the game and the classroom. We are excited to see his continued improvement and success at the next level."

Luevano was an early enrollee to Tennessee Tech and will be participating in Spring Ball with the Golden Eagles.
