Four Owls Will Continue Their Collegiate Careers
Four Citrus College baseball players have committed to continue their collegiate playing careers. Aiden Taylor will continue pitching locally for Cal State Dominguez Hills, Connor Green is headed to Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Jason Armendariz is set to join Texas A&M University - Texarkana and Mario Catalan is heading to Northern California to join Simpson University.
Taylor, a sophomore left-handed pitcher, appeared in 24 games for the Owls and started in 19 of those games. Taylor racked up 74 strikeouts over the 113 innings he pitched during his time with Cirtus on a solid 5.89 K/9. Taylor earned 2024 All-Western State Conference-South 2nd Team last season as a starting pitcher.
Green, a sophomore first baseman, earned All-Western State Conference-South 1st Team honors in both 2023 and 2024. Green led the Owls totaling 43 RBIs in 2023 and 41 in 2024. Crushing 17 homeruns with a .388 batting average during his Citrus career, he also flashed his glove with 290 putouts, 67 assists and helped turn 19 double plays.
Armendariz, a sophomore second baseman, played in 59 games for Citrus over the last two seasons where he totaled 54 hits, 43 runs, 27 RBIs, 17 stolen bases. He also flashed the leather in the infield with 125 assists while helping turn 21 double plays. Armendariz earned All-Western State Conference honorable mention in 2023.
Catalan, a sophomore, started at left field in 40 games for the Owls in 2024. Catalan earned 2024 All-Western State Conference-South 2nd Team honors while slashing .381/.453/.510. In the outfield Mario recorded 68 putouts, 10 assists and helped turn one double play.
