Citrus Softball opened its 2018 campaign this weekend with 3 games, culminating in a solid win over visiting El Camino College on Saturday at Citrus College.
The Fighting Owls rallied to beat El Camino 8-6, after dropping the first two season games to Mt. SAC and Southwestern, respectively.
Citrus nearly scored enough runs in the 5th inning to mercy rule the Warriors, but couldn't get runners on base against the pitching of Maisie Weishoff.
Freshman Catcher Brooke Fuss led the Owls with 2 Hits and 3 RBI's, along with Infielder Valerie Ortiz who chipped in 1 hit for 1 RBI and two runs scored and Center Fielder Mia Escobar who knocked in 2 runs on 2 hits including a double, and added a stolen base.
The winning pitcher for the Owls was Emily Paredez, who gets her first win of the season on 6 innings pitched.
Citrus takes the field again at Santiago Canyon for a double header this Friday. Game times are scheduled for 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
