Owls Are Program Best Fifth in WSC Supremacy Standings

Glendora, CA – The Citrus College Athletics Department experienced unprecedented success in 2016-2017. The Owls finished a program best fifth place in the 2016-2017 Western State Conference Supremacy Standings. That's the highest finish for Citrus in the 17 years it's been a member of the WSC. Their previous best finish came in 2009 when the Owls tied Bakersfield College for 6th place.

The Owls had arguably their most consistent year in recent memory when it came to the WSC standings. Citrus won just won conference championship throughout the year (Men's Basketball), but the Owls also had three runner-up finishes (Women's Golf, Men's Water Polo, and Softball), and four other sports finish in third (Volleyball, Women's Water Polo, Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, and Baseball). All told, 12 of Citrus' 14 sports earned points for the Owls in the standings this past year.

The Western State Conference Supremacy award was established during the 1980-1981 academic year. The purpose of the award is to recognize the conference colleges for their athletic and academic excellence in WSC competition. Points are given based on order of finish in conference, as well as for overall departmental GPA. The WSC is home to 18 colleges.
